Congratulations Preps!

The Preps have now been at school for 100 days!  They looked very colourful at Assembly on Friday when they wore their lovely masks, and Angie and Theodore read out what they have loved about being in Prep so far. Back in the classroom the Preps practised counting by 10s to 100. They were able to join their friends and thread a string of 100 'beads' each. This took a lot of patience and provided great counting practise.

After all this excitement there were big platters of fresh fruit for healthy morning tea. Some delicious cup cakes completed this very special morning. Many thanks to the parents who donated and cut up the fruit!

Updates

The Circus Skills concert was exciting and P/1C students did a terrific job of spinning and twirling their brightly coloured hoops. Well done - your audience loved the performance! Later in the week we were sad to say goodbye to Heilyn, who has moved out of the area. However, we have two new students for Term 3 and we welcome Esneya and Pedram.

Keep up the great work!

What an exciting week we've had! Thursday evening's Education Week Open Night was extremely well attended and began with each one of our families visiting the classroom. The Preps and Grade Ones sang beautifully on stage and it was a joy to see all those animated faces and happy smiles. I'm sure everyone who was there loved the performances during the evening. This week you have also received the Specialists' Cup which means you have listened to your teachers and completed great work. Well done, P/1C! Mrs Pollock is very proud of you.

May days

At Circus Skills we go on the pedal cars and we help each other. I like to play with the spinning plates and I am getting better at them. At the
concert we are doing hula hoops.  Charlotte

Every Tuesday after play we go to the multi-purpose room to do Circus Skills. The first thing we do is we sit down and Az tells us the equipment we're using and he tells us some of the tricks that he wants us to do. Then we split up into three even groups. Then we have a go ourselves with the equipment. Last, we do some balancing. So far we have practised three balances and they are 'monkey grip', 'the plane' and 'the wall'.   Mitchell

At Circus Skills I have a lot of fun. Yesterday we practised balancing. My favourite thing is diablos. The diablos can be green and red and sometimes they are yellow and blue. I am getting better at hoops. I love Circus Skills because I learn a lot.   Amber

At Circus Skills we learn how to do
different things. I like to do diablos
and I am getting better at spinning plates.
At the concert Mum and Dad and
Phoebe will come. Hugo

Term 2 News

It seems a such a long time since the warm, sunny days of March when we concluded Term 1 with our 'Super Egg' competition and Easter Gift races. Happy Days!
Now that we're well into Term 2 with its wetter weather, we have begun indoor pursuits such as Circus Skills. We are all very much enjoying trying out different equipment under the watchful eye of Az, who has shown us how to do tricks with Devil Sticks, scarves, pois, diablos, hoops, spinning plates and various other pieces. Here we are practising hard as always.

What a fabulous turnout of visitors to the Prep area on Friday morning! After Assembly where the Preps and Grade Ones sang beautifully, the Preps led their Grandparents back to the classroom to show them all their hard work. With impeccable manners the Preps introduced their visitors, showed off their workbooks, demonstrated some computer activities and played counting games. Mrs Pollock was very proud of you all - another happy day at Kerrimuir!

Prep-Buddy Lunch, 2012

Many thanks to the wonderful Kerrimuir parents who once again produced a tasty lunch for the Preps and their Buddies. Parents were also invited and it was a great opportunity for all to meet and chat. Here are some of our guests this year .........
